MonkeyWrench Books in Austin is hosting War Resisters League organizer Kimber Heinz's talk about the Facing Tear Gas' campaign against Urban Shield. 
Facing Tear Gas works towards ending the militarization of police and the industry that profits from police repression. It connects the dots between US support for the criminalization of dissent globally to those same actions happening here at home. In late October, we organized an action at a SWAT team training and international weapons expo called "Urban Shield." Urban Shield is funded by the Department of Homeland Security and connected to their "Urban Area Security Initiative" program. Urban Shield takes place all over the country, training police in paramilitary tactics and in how to use the latest in "crowd control" weapons. Be there!
