STOP the Bombings and END U.S. Military Assistance to the Philippines

The War Resisters League (WRL) and New York Committee for Human Rights in the Philippines (NYCHRP) urge an end to the indiscriminate bombings of Filipino villagers by the Philippine government and an end to U.S. security assistance to the Philippine government. Beyond Border Patrol

WRL has long challenged military and police recruitment. Our newest counter-recruitment resource, Beyond Border Patrol, takes on the lies of Border Patrol recruiters – particularly in the borderlands – and debunks them with the realities of the job and the agency’s legacy of abuse. Like military and police recruiters, Border Patrol recruiters target poor people and young people of color in border communities, and promote careers in law enforcement as a stable way of life and a means to “protect” your community.

WRL Statement On the Capture of Saddam Hussein

The media emphasis on the capture of Saddam Hussein repeats one of the fundamental mistakes made by successive U.S. administrations: that Hussein is Iraq. Iraq — as the peace movement has been saying, and as the U.S. occupiers and media are only beginning to discover — is a vast and complex country, and Hussein’s capture…

On U.S. Escalation Against Iraq and Syria

Military Intervention is Not the Solution! In recent months IS has spread a wave of oppression and violence that goes well beyond the headline-catching executions and massacres to affecting millions of Iraqis and Syrians through fear, exploitation and gender-based violence. Now 12 years into the U.S.-led invasion and occupation of Iraq, we witness how militarism…

No violence. No exceptions. No exceptionalism.

As the days that unfold before us mimic a time over a decade ago when the devastating War on Terror began with US occupation of Afghanistan, we mourn because it is makes us human. For those in Raqqa. For those in Tunis. For those in Yola and Kano, in Ankara, in Beirut, in Baghdad, in…
