WHEN: Annually in Fall. For 2018: September 6-10.
WHO: Urban Shield is attended by hundreds of local, federal and international agencies each year. It also hosts hundred of US, and globally based vendors of weapons, equipment and more (2016 vendor directory). It is funded by the Department of Homeland Security grant program the Urban Areas Security Initative.
WHAT THEY SAY IT IS: "a comprehensive, full-scale regional preparedness exercise." "The overarching goals of Urban Shield include striving for the capability to present a multi-layered training exercise to enhance the skills and abilities of regional first responders, as well as those responsible for coordinating and managing large scale events."
